Happy news about the Basilica

Photo taken about 3 years ago after the main dome was removed.

I have been waiting anxiously for news of the Catholic Basilica in Barbadoes Street - the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. It has always been a superb place acoustically for concerts and visual impact. Today the church authorities announced that they have plans to attempt to restore at least the nave of this glorious building. Of all the heritage buildings in Christchurch, this would have be top of the list, by anyone's standards.
