Christchurch Town Hall auditorium

Visits to the organ since the earthquakes

After the 2010 September Quake
The largest shake of all did no damage at all to the organ. But it was a very eerie visit to an empty hall

First visit, May 2011
Almost three months to the day, we were allowed to pay a brief visit, along with the insurers, to inspect the organ and look for damage after the February 22nd quake.

Second visit, September 2011
A visit with members from historic preservation society, Christchurch city council, insurers and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all

Third visit, November 2011
Wendelin Eberle, president of Austrian company Rieger Orgelbau, inspected the organ in  November 2011 and was able to do minor running repairs.

Final visit
With the fate of the auditorium hanging the balance, we paid one last visit to the organ as it was boarded up in for protection in situ.

Interior visit September 2016
After 2 years and 9 months we finally get to see inside the organ again. Hello, dear old thing!
