Organ CDs recorded on the Rieger organ
These CDs, Great Australasian Organs VII and Pink and White were recorded by organ curator Martin Setchell. Although the Bonbons for Organ series and Let the Pealing Organ Blow are no longer available in stores, they can be bought as single track downloads from many sources on the internet, such as iTunes, and Amplifier, or even second-hand. You can hear extracts of these other volumes on our Sound Extracts page
Great Australasian Organ Series - Vol 7
Recorded in 2010 on the Christchurch Town Hall Rieger, this CD features many French pieces befitting the instrument's French 'accent'. It was the last recording made on the organ before the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 closed the auditorium and silenced the organ for an unknown length of time.
Festive Trumpet Tune - David German; Overture to the Occasional Oratorio - G.F.Handel; Premiere Symphonie in E flat maj Op.20 - Lazare-Auguste Maquaire; Celebratio - Karl Jenkins; Litanies - Jehan Alain; Suite Carmelite - Jean Françaix; O salutaris hostia (from the Mass in G minor) Camille Saint-Saëns; Bolero de Concert - Louis Lefébure-Wély; Fuga sopra un Soggetto - Stefano Bertuletti; Ronde française Op. 37 Léon Boellmann; Toccata in F - Jules Grison
“Lots of pieces you don't hear every day. Definitely not one of those CDs that could be used to 'dry out a martini'.”
