A
25-minute video for schools showing how a pipe organ works, is now
available.
The
video is offered to schools as an educational resource for use
with 11-to 14-year old students, and as an advanced project
for musically talented older students and organ lovers anywhere!
Although
the video is an introduction to how the organ works (and particularly
the Rieger in the Town Hall) and is a thorough look into the workings
of the organ, and it moves beyond that to incorporate activities
based around repertoire featured on the cd, "Bonbons
for Organ".
Project
manager behind the venture is Roy Tankersley, former Director of
Music at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School in Wellington. Director
is Gil Barker, and the video features organist Martin Setchell,
with organ student Jeremy Woodside in the role of explorer - and
two years later, a player!
The
complete organ kit (package of video, CD of Bonbons for Organ, organ pipe, and 60+ page booklet) (see downloadable leaflet) costs around $80 (New Zealand dollars) and the video only will cost $30.
Post and packaging = $5 for video alone and $7.50 for the package (within New Zealand).
