Win
a CD of "A Taste of Shropshire" by Martin Setchell
on the Ludlow Parish Church organ.
Below
are six photos of bits of organs.
Only five of the organs, however, are real - the other is a 12th
the size - a real miniature!
Which one is it?
CLOSED
- and the winner is Philip, of Bognor, UK. His was the only
correct entry and although there were a good number almost
every other picture was chosen by entrants except the right
one - apart from Philip. His reasoning for choosing it was
interesting and worth reproducing here:
"The
answer is in the lack of darkness in the mouths of the
pipes, so they're solid. Not that that is necessarily a
giveaway, but the style of case means that (as I call it)
cold-rolled zinc would be used with those French (cow)
mouths. Wooden dummies (which produce that effect of no
shade in the mouth) just wouldn't be used in an 8' front
which it has to be, given the scale of the mirror over
the console." Philip will be getting a much-deserved
CD in the mail shortly.
Thanks
Philip - and also our thanks to Sarah
and Andrew Price, of www.miniaturechurch.co.uk who
made the competition possible - and for their extraordinary
website and project. Do visit their pages about St Hilary
- they are a joy.
