Announcement from vBase, the Christchurch Town Hall management company, on Tuesday, May 17th: "Christchurch Town Hall has suffered significant damage from liquefaction and differential settlement. The full extent of the damage and likely repair will not be known until end August 2011.
Christchurch Convention Centre has also suffered substantial damage. Structural engineering and other assessment was suspended last week while the building is made safe. This process will delay further investigation by up to six weeks and result in a similar timeline to the Town Hall.
As investigation continues the full extent of damage to both venues is emerging and they are now expected to remain closed until at least end 2012."

2011 Organ Concerts all postponed
The grand re-opening concert on March 20th has been postponed until further notice due to the earthquake affecting Christchurch.
The shows on 12 June, Sarah Kim (Paris) and the
13 November Show weekend Organ Plus, Martin Setchell, with Pandemonium percussion
have been also postponed due to the earthquake and subsequent damage to the Town Hall auditorium.
Our sincere apologies for this news, which of course, is out of our control, thanks to mother nature. We are as gutted as you are.
