Dear Friend,
Greetings to you, and a very happy New Year.
This is to advise you that the Annual General Meeting of the Friends will be held as follows:
Thursday 4 March 2010 at 7.30pm
in Room 205 (upstairs) at the School of Music, University of Canterbury.
There should be ample after-hours parking in the adjacent car parks but please do not use any user-designated (reserved) car parks. The minutes of the 2009 AGM, the Trust’s annual report and the audited accounts for the 2009 year will be available for perusal from 7.15pm. The Trust’s Annual Report for 2009 is printed overleaf.
Thanks to the work of your Trustees, we have again managed to hold the subscription rate to $5 per person, couples $8. These rates have applied now for many years. The meeting will, however, consider a recommendation that the subscription rates be increased to $10 and $15 respectively from the 2011 financial year in view of rising costs etc. Membership entitles you to voting rights at the AGM, receiving mail-outs like this one to inform you of organ concerts, and a generous discount on Ticketek prices for the International Organ concerts. If you wish to renew your membership for the 2010 year, or indeed wish to join for the first time, simply detach and complete the application form below and return it to our Treasurer with your subscription. To claim your discount when booking for a concert, please show your membership card which will be sent to you with the receipt shown below. Since the first concert is on 20 March, it is suggested that membership applications be sent to the Treasurer well before that date. Any donation of $5 or more over and above your subscription received by the Friends (as a charitable trust) towards our work of promoting the Town Hall organ is tax deductible. Would you consider helping us further by adding a tax deductible donation to your subscription? Every little bit helps, and this would help ensure that these concerts can continue.
Early in 2011 we hope to present a special concert featuring Martin Setchell, who will be showcasing the new additions to the Rieger organ due for completion in February 2011. A report on progress on that upgrade will be presented at the AGM.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM and the concerts this year: Saturday 20 March (Thomas Trotter) at 7.30pm, Sunday 8 August (Gordon Stewart) at 2.30pm, and Sunday 19 September (Carlo Curley) at 7.30pm. Please note that the first concert is on a Saturday, not the usual Sunday. Additional copies of the flyer for the three concerts are enclosed for you to give friends/relatives to help boost audience numbers.
