Greetings
to you, and a very happy New Year.
This is to advise you that the Annual General Meeting of the
Friends will be held as follows:
Thursday 19 March 2009 at 7.30pm
in Room 205 (upstairs) at the School of Music, University of
Canterbury.
There
should be ample after-hours parking in the adjacent car
parks but please do not use any user-designated (reserved)
car parks. The minutes of the 2008 AGM, the Trust’s
annual report and the audited accounts for the 2008 year will
be available for perusal from 7.15pm. The Trust’s Annual
Report for 2008 is printed overleaf.
Thanks to the work of your Trustees, we have again managed
to hold the subscription rate to $5 per person, couples $8. Membership
entitles you to voting rights at the AGM, receiving mail-outs
like this one to inform you of organ concerts, and a generous
discount on Ticketek prices for the International Organ concerts.
If you wish to renew your membership for the 2009 year, or indeed
wish to join for the first time, simply detach and complete the
application form below and return it to our Treasurer with your
subscription. To claim your discount when booking for a concert,
please show your membership card which will be sent to you with
the receipt shown below. Since the first concert is on 1 March,
it is suggested that membership applications be sent to the Treasurer
well before that date. Any donation of $5 or more over and above
your subscription received by the Friends (as a charitable trust)
towards our work of promoting the Town Hall organ is tax deductible.
Would you consider helping us further by adding a tax deductible
donation to your subscription? Every little bit helps, and this
would help ensure that these concerts can continue.
Enclosed
with this notice (in envelopes sent to Friends of the Organ)
are three copies of a flyer detailing the first of our concerts
this year. Given that Carlo Curley is known as the “Pavarotti
of the Organ”,
this is bound to be a very special occasion. We need your help
to keep publicity costs and therefore concert prices to a realistic
minimum. The best publicity is always a personal recommendation!
So please help us by inviting a relative, friend or neighbour
who you think would enjoy these occasions and passing the flyer
to them. This concert would be a marvellous introduction to
the Rieger organ! Also enclosed is a copy of the standard brochure
about the organ for your information or for you to pass on
to someone else.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM and the concerts this
year: Sundays 1 March (Carlo Curley), 2 August (Christopher Herrick)
and 15 November (Martin Setchell and Guest), all at 3pm.
