Florian Pagitsch was born in Tamsweg/Salzburg in 1959.

As a graduate of the "Mozarteum“ in Salzburg (organ) and the University for music in Vienna (piano, musicology) he made further study trips to Belgium, Pakistan, India and Iran.

He was awarded several times at international organ competitions, for example, at the International Franz Liszt-Competition (Budapest/Hungary 1978) and the Quadrennial Johann Sebastian Bach-Competition (Leipzig/Germany 1980). In 1986 he won the first prize for improvisation at the International Anton Bruckner-Competition (Linz/Austria).

He has performed as a soloist in Concert Halls and Cathedrals in Festivals all over Europe, in Japan, Australia and the USA. In concerts together with musical partners he has played among others with Benny Schmid/Violine, Hannes Kawrza/Saxophon, Francisco Araiza/Tenor, London Brass and the Juvavum Brass Ensemble.

Beside a recording with all toccatas of Johann Ernst Eberlin his last CD-recordings are produced with mdg-records in a series called “organ landscapes” and show historical instruments of Salzburg and Kärnten.

His favourite music are compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach, Austrian “Classics”, French organ toccatas and last but not least, his own Improvisations in different ways.

Florian Pagitsch is ao.Univ.-Professor for organ at the University for music and performing arts Vienna and lives with his familiy in Kärnten, the southern country of Austria.
