Amy Johansen is the Sydney University Organist and an Honorary Carillonist at the University.

After earning degrees from the University of Florida and Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, she undertook further study in London (Thomas Trotter) and Paris (Naji Hakim), and has since performed in many of the major organ venues around the world.

Although Ms Johansen's repertoire encompasses all periods of music, it was her first CD, The Embrace of Fire, devoted to the organ music of the composer Naji Hakim, which initially brought her international acclaim. She has performed often as soloist and accompanist with Australian and foreign ensembles including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Sydney Philharmonia Choir, Sydney Chamber Choir and the Scottish National Orchestra Choir, and her performances have been broadcast on American Public Radio's Pipedreams, the ABC, and the BBC. Her recordings are available on the Move and Pro Organo labels.

A new CD, recorded last year on the Great Hall organ, features both the organ and the University Carillon (played by University Carillonist Jill Forrest). The two instruments are combined for two tracks, thanks to the wonders of clever technology. A second CD from the Great Hall featuring organ solos will be released shortly.
